My plan for the English Party
Representing all England
As a council leader and regional chair, I've worked to ensure our candidates and activists reflect our communities. As Chair, I'd embed diversity, equality and inclusion in every decision - a core value, not an add-on - and help us grow in cities, the Midlands and North, while thriving in our heartlands.
Empower local parties
Volunteers are left following rules without templates or support, reinventing the wheel and risking legal costs. I'd make the English Party provide ready-to-go back-office help: accountancy for treasurers; HR; payroll and tax advise for parties employing staff; and non-resident treasurers so no party folds for non-compliance. Local decisions, properly supported.
Revitalise our regions
This year, members backed my reforms: the English Party should exist to empower our regions to grow, expand, and win. As Chair, I'll deliver that, working with Scotland, Wales and the Federal Party rather than duplicating them. Where old regional boundaries don't match new mayoral authorities, we should change them.
